Works great with a marking cage of your choice. Standard Color Schedule: White is for years ending in 1 or 6. Yellow is for years ending in 2 or 7. Red is for years ending in 3 or 8. Green is for years ending in 4 or 9.

Whether you're a seasoned beekeeper or just starting out, this set is perfect for you. This pen makes it so much easier to mark your queen for identification. (see our picture of the color chart used for each year) The Queen Cage allows for safe transportation of the queen bee during hive inspections or relocations and marking for easily locating her. Use one hand (with gloves on or off) to push her into the cage and the other hand to slide the flexible screen over her and slide the foam insert up to position her against the screen to place a dot of this years color on her thorax. (Year 2024-Green) As soon as she is marked slide the foam down so the paint has at least a minute to dry then slide the screen back and let her go on top of the frames. All worker bees can pass through the screen except the queen until you release her. Perfect for all Backyard Beekeepers who need to keep track of their queens. These colors do not fade and will stay on your queens for at least a year or more without being removed by the queens attendants. (If you have marked queens before like we have with other pens you know the color is removed within a month or two by the worker bees and what a pain in the butt that is having to remark all the time!!)
